Funny how things progress sometimes, ya know? So here's my specific brand of ridiculous process:
Let sarracenia and flytraps hang out in my small pond that I made for them outside to be beach bums in the full Minnesota summer sun. They love this.
Get pond plants and two goldfish to filter the minerals further and take care of mosquito larvae because eff those jerks.
Find free aquarium on FB Marketplace to overwinter pond plants and goldfish so they don't turn into fishsickles.
ALGAE! EEK.
Get tank running early indoors to try to save some of the water plants being overrun by algae.
ALGAE! EEK!
Get Amano shrimp to eat algae in the tank.
Wait, one of the shrimp has eggs? Oooooo!
Research how to help her successfully have her clutch. BABY SHRIMPS EEK!
Profit?

So, it's a weird progression of events, but for all you folks out there with ponds or tanks or whatever your preferred method of creating algae is - if this shrimp thing works out, who knows, I may have shrimp that apparently dine voraciously on many forms of tasty tasty algae. Whee! Happy Saturday, folks!
